The basics
What ages do you take?
+
Ages 2.5 to 6. In practice that is a mixed-age group, which is part of why it works: the older children explain things to the younger ones, and the younger ones stretch to keep up.
What are your hours?
+
Monday through Friday, 9am to 12pm. Mornings only, so your child gets the best hours of the day and is home for lunch and a nap.
Do you offer afternoon or after-school care?
+
No. Kids Ranch is a morning program, and pickup is at noon.
Can we come part-time?
+
Yes. Part-time and full week are both available. Part-time families usually pick two or three set days, so the group your child sees stays familiar week to week.
How big is the group?
+
We keep it small on purpose, within the limits of our California family child care license. Small means every child is known by name, by mood, and by what they are working on this month. Ask us on your tour and we will tell you exactly how many children are enrolled right now.
Are you licensed?
+
Yes. California family child care license #343628082. You can verify it through the state's licensing lookup.
Getting started
How does enrollment work?
+
Come for a tour first. If it feels right for your family, we go through the enrollment paperwork, emergency forms, and immunisation records together, and agree on a start date and a settling-in plan.
Do you have openings?
+
Yes, currently enrolling. Openings change through the year, so get in touch and we will tell you exactly what is available and for which days.
What does tuition cost?
+
There is no single figure to quote here. Reach out and we will go through it with you directly, along with what is included.
Where are you located?
+
Folsom, California. Because Kids Ranch runs out of a private home, we share the exact address once a tour is scheduled.
A typical morning
What does the day look like?
+
Free play, circle time, snack, outdoor time, then the learning table. There is more detail on the Program page.
Do you provide meals?
+
Healthy snacks are provided every day. Please send a labelled water bottle each morning. We're happy to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions, so tell us what your child needs before the first day.
How much time do children spend outside?
+
Usually 30 to 60 minutes daily, weather permitting, in a large fenced backyard with grass and shade. On hot days we go out earlier and add water play; on cold days we bundle up and go anyway.
What's your approach to learning?
+
Play-based and child-centered, with kindergarten readiness built in. Letters, numbers, safety scissors, and taking turns get learned by doing rather than by worksheet, at the pace each child is ready for.
How will I know how my child's morning went?
+
We'll tell you one real thing at pickup, not a generic "she had a good day". If something bigger comes up, you will hear from us the same day.
About us
Who cares for the children?
+
Dewanshi, the owner and lead teacher, along with her assistant teachers, so your child sees the same familiar faces each morning. More about Dewanshi.
What are your qualifications?
+
Licensed by the State of California, pediatric CPR and First Aid certified, and all training required by California Community Care Licensing to run a licensed family child care home. The full list is on the About page.
What languages are spoken?
+
English, with Gujarati and Hindi also spoken. If your family speaks either at home, your child will hear it here too, in a song, at snack, or when a hard morning needs a familiar word.
Still deciding?
The best way to know if Kids Ranch is right for your child is to come see a morning while the children are here.
